Fitted wardrobes and storage

There are three ways to fill a Maltese alcove. Flat-pack — a 180 cm sliding wardrobe for about €500 from a Maltese retailer. Modular — a 200 cm hinged unit from a reseller at €850 to €1,030 supply only, with assembly booked separately. Or bespoke: a joiner measures the wall, allows for the floor that is not level and the ceiling that is not square, and makes the piece to fit. A Maltese marketplace guide puts that at €800 to €2,000 and up, which is the band the calculator carries.

What pushes a bespoke wardrobe past €2,000 is sliding gear, veneer instead of melamine, and the inside: drawers, lighting, a full internal fit-out. No Maltese joiner publishes a per-metre rate, so anything quoted per metre is derived rather than published, and the honest number comes after measuring.

What this covers

• Bespoke hinged and sliding wardrobes, floor to ceiling, wall to wall
• Walk-in wardrobes and dressing rooms
• Internal fit-outs: drawers, shelving, hanging, lighting
• Bookcases, TV units, alcove units and shelving
• Flat-pack assembly if you have bought elsewhere

What it costs

The wardrobe band is a Maltese marketplace guide's; bookcases and TV units have no published Maltese figure and are quoted after measuring; flat-pack assembly is on the small-jobs hourly band.

A band, not a quote: the low end is a straightforward job with clear access, the high end is the same job with the complications a site visit finds. Materials are included where the line says so.

How it works

You deal with us, not with the workshop. We measure, we quote a fixed price, we bring in a joiner from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and we stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.

Questions people ask

Melamine, veneer or solid?

Melamine-faced board is the workhorse and the cheapest; veneer gives real timber on a stable core; solid timber is a statement and moves with the humidity. Most Maltese fitted wardrobes are melamine or veneer for good reason.

How long does a bespoke wardrobe take?

Two to four weeks from measuring to fitting is typical for a Maltese workshop, depending on the finish.
